Attention all Autobots! This message goes out to you! Paramount Home Video is bringing forth a new collection for steelbook nuts that collects all of the Bayhem and Bayhem-adjacent products in time for the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. While there is quite literally, and unfortunately, no incentive for anyone who already owns these movies to buy the new set other than the snazzy new steelbooks, the collection itself truly is something special that we will break down why this edition standsout from other steelbook sets, other transformer steelbooks, and is more like a premium One Click box set (without the snazzy bonuses and slipcovers). Overall, this set is for diehard Autobots and not for Decepticons.

There are currently five (!!!!) Transformers films and a spin-off of Bumblebee, while not including the animated film, and they are now housed in a gorgeous steelbook set for the first time. While there is that standard collection set with the heavy-duty amaray case with a slipcover, this is the first time all six of the Transformers movies are on 4K Ultra HD in a steelbook collection.

While I am not going to dive into full critical analysis of each and every film, because that is simply redundant and unnecessary, and since they are also not new transfers, there is no need to deep dive into the quality of the transfers. However, if you are a fan of the Transformers franchise and do not own the complete series yet or have holes in your collection and want to be a completist, this is the best way to do it. Similar to other steelbook box sets, the uniformity in this set is simply beautiful. There are no complicated messy spines. Transformers is bold and centered on the spine with the subtitle carefully placed beneath the main title, not overtaking the main name and staying centered throughout. Furthermore, on the back of each steelbook (except Bumblebee) is the Decepticon symbol with some wear and tear through it. The front of each steelbook shows the main, centered Transformer that each film focuses on or pays the most attention to displayed promptly on the cover. The design decision to place the roman numerals between I and V for the films in the dead center of the text and steelbook is certainly the right choice. It doesn't distract from the art itself nor does it distract from being randomly placed or separated. The uniformity truly does shine and keep this sleek design straight forward, making for a very nice addition to any collector's shelf. The set also includes a digital code for each of the six films (the codes are separate, so if you already own one or two titles you can donate those to friends or family) and a decal of the Autobots!

Now, the only downside is for the very particular nitpicky collectors who need everything to be museum quality. I am not going to say that a gigantic dent or scratch across my items isn't going to drive me nuts, because it will, but expecting 100% perfection on any steelbook, ever, is nearly impossible to have. Scratches or paint chips are almost always a guarantee. It's printed on metal. It's the name of the game, unfortunately. While this is the nicest packaging for a steelbook collection I’ve ever seen, the issue of not separating the steelbooks with foam or even a sliver of cardboard does leave them to rub against each other and could possibly result in slight imperfections. Granted, this could be avoided if you chose to remove the steelbooks from their Autobot and Decepticon box and display them individually on their own.

In short, if you’re a fan of the Bayhem and don't already own these movies in 4K (which they truly do look exceptional), buckle up and get ready to roll out to your nearest physical media hub and get your hands on the ultimate collection for Transformers fans. Autobots, assemble!
